    A few additional details |

A few additional details that prospective buyers might want to know: -- The drawers are a robust slightly flexible polypropylene plastic, unlike units of old whose drawers were made of a hard brittle plastic which tended to crack. -- The drawers slide easily, and have a stop to avoid them inadvertently pulling out all the way, but are easy to lift out if needed. -- The back of the case includes some snap-out dividers. However, in this 64-drawer unit there were only eight small dividers that fit this drawer size, and an additional four large ones, which are useless. -- You can buy the dividers separately (Akro-Mils 40716 small dividers, qty 16), but they are disproportionately expensive: On amazon, $9 for 16, so basically as much as the cabinet to add dividers. Elsewhere they can be found for $4.49/16, it seems. -- The slots in the drawers for the dividers are quite deep and include some springiness, so cutting your own dividers from card or thin acrylic sheet would be plausible, though a bit fiddly if you want to match the tapered drawer shape. -- Inside the cabinet, there is no shelf between the rows of drawers. Consequently, the drawers are uncovered when slid into place, so there is nothing to stop the contents from falling out if the cabinet is tilted or transported roughly. -- The cabinet is also available in blue/grey color (search 10764 blue) -- As others have said, the cabinet is quite tall and thin, so prone to tipping unless attached to something. Overall, it works for what I want it for, but wish it came with the dividers, and it would be more widely useful to me if it could be transported without the contents jumping out.

    Just what I needed |

This is perfect for sorting beads and gemstones. Since dividers were so much $$, I bought a 15 x 18 inch sheet of plastic at Lowes for $2 and made my own. Unfortunately, the choices were only pink and green, but I can live with that to save $30!! The few dividers proided on the back of the unit are black..... For those who are inclined to make their own, each divider is 3x5 cm.

    Best Lego sorting system! |

I have been searching for a good Lego organizing system, and finally found what we believe to be a winner. This is a pricey system (but so is Lego). We considered sorting to keep all set pieces together, but really felt that Lego is the most fun when you can create your own inventions and mix pieces from sets. We've tried plastic storage containers and zipper bags but none really seemed to work that well. While definitely on the more aggressive end of organizational systems, these work perfectly to sort small pieces, which can easily be located again if you wanted to build a particular set using Lego instructions. The fact that you can move individual drawers is really helpful when you want to reorganize rows or have new pieces that best belong in a specific location. Or if you have too many of one kind of piece, you can then consider sorting by color too. The drawers have a simple stopper system to prevent them from falling out easily (a tiny tab that sticks out to block the drawer from sliding out completely unless you angle the drawer slightly), which is helpful since the drawers slide so easily. If you want to move the whole cabinet, just tilt it so the drawers sit back in their slots. A slight lean forward will result in all your drawers sliding out (and hopefully not falling out completely, but it's a bit wobbly). And if you want to take it a step further, check out this person's Lego labeling system, where you can download free templates if you have the appropriate label printer: http://tomalphin.com/bricklabels (I am not affiliated, but found his site very useful in figuring out how to actually sort the pieces). The attached photo is from his page. We also bought the matching cabinets with all big drawers and mixed size drawers, but I think this one will be the most useful.

not terribly stable (attach it to something or keept it against a wall) but does what I need it to |

I ordered this to store beading supplies that are too large for your typical multi-compartment bead/craft organizer. For example, I have many spools of Nymo thread, I have longer packages with beading and twisted wire needles in them, and I have many, many headpins and eyepins that are too long to fit in any of the other organizers I own. I find this to work pretty well for holding all of these things, as well as baggies with hanks of seed beads in them (I would not put loose seed beads in here as they would go everywhere), bits of cord and leather, etc. It is difficult to tell what is in the drawers just by looking at the front of this, even though the drawers are translucent/nearly transparent. You may want to add labels. (We used to have some of these in my lab in graduate school to store parts for repairing our HPLCs, and we did label those.) This has 64 drawers but you can put dividers in them and double the number of compartments. This does not come with dividers and I don't really care that much about dividers, so I am not using any. You can buy dividers if you are so inclined, or just cut up a piece of thin cardboard. This is not particularly stable as a free-standing unit. You can attach it to a wall, in which case it would be fine, or you can just push it up against something solid. I would not call t "portable," either. There are no handles and the drawers start coming out if you pick it up and carry it. The drawers open easily. This was in good shape, with no plastic or metal smell, no broken pieces, and nothing missing. All the drawers were intact (none cracked). This could easily get top heavy and tip or spill the contents of the drawers, so either give it a permanent home on a counter or wall, or at the very least, keep your heaviest items in the bottom few rows. Overall, though, this is doing exactly what I needed it to do so I am happy. I just have to be careful not to knock it over!

I make reenactment jewelry and there are LOTS of little components that go into that. Having these 64 drawer cabinets makes it easier to organize which, means I can spend more...

Good size, short drawer stops. |

It's a good size but the drawer stops aren't long enough. When you pull a drawer out it just comes all the way out. Other than that plenty of space and compartments.

These are great storage devices but they have a problem. The price of the dividers almost doubles the price of the system.

This is a fantastic product, worth every penny you spend on it! There is a slight groove on both the top and bottom, allowing you to stack them up very easily.

Enough drawers will never be enough. |

Besides this item I also purchase items 10124 and 10144 from Akro-Mils. Akro-Mils, through Amazon, offers competitive prices. All three items arrived securely packaged.
