    Perfect for Crossstitch |
    Verified Purchase

This mid-sized hoop is perfect for doing crossstitch and embroidery. The plastic is light weight so it is easy to hold on to for an extended time, and is also light to carry in my tote bag. The screw on the hoop holds the tension tight so you get even stitches. For most projects this hoop will work very well. (The color I got was blue. I was not picky about what color they sent, but if you want a certain color, email the seller and I bet they would work with you.)

    It's good considering it's plastic |

Even though it was a round shaped hoop to begin with, it is now oval. I wish that I could get the hoop to get as tight as I like it to be for my fabric. I have to keep pulling on the fabric and sometimes re-tightening the screw to get the fabric as taut as I want it to be (think snare drum sounds). I miss the days of metal hoops. SIGH. But I do recommend it to anyone who is considering purchasing it. Other than my being spoiled rotten, I do like using it. Coats & Clark always has great products.

    8 inch Embroidery Hoop |
    Verified Purchase

I'm a novice at embroidery, so for me this hoop does the job. It has a lip on one side so the pieces interlock somewhat. Because I am somewhat new at this I don't have much in terms of comparison, but it works nicely as a hoop a bit on the larger side for me.

    Holds fabric taut. |

This product is great for holding the fabric taut. No slippage at all. And it has enough area that I don't have to readjust my workspace very often. Just what I was looking for.

Nice hoop - better than wood IMO |
    Verified Purchase

I have bought several of these by this brand in different sizes. This item works fine. I use this 8" hoop for my 6x6-inch and smaller projects. I don't like working too close to the edge of the hoop because then I don't have enough room to "finish" my stitches by going under previous stitches on the back, hence why my projects are about 2" smaller than the diameter of the hoop. Over all, I like plastic hoops more than wood ones because I think the wood ones sometimes warp. The only exception is if you want to "frame" your finished project with an embroidery hoop (instead of a traditional frame with a double-mat) - in that case only, I'd use a wood hoop.

I have always had good luck with these hoops re cross stitch |
    Verified Purchase

I have always had good luck with these hoops re cross stitch. I will say there is not a great deal of competition, though. I have not used the wooden hoops in years. For most of my medium sized projects I prefer the size 8 (10 often seems to clumsy). I like to have several hoops on hand because I often have multiple projects going at once. These are one for $5.99 or two for $6.43 so I’m not sure why anyone would just buy one. I don’t think any hoop is going to keep the fabric “bounce a quarter” tight but it is likely not good for your fabric/needlework to stretch it that tight. Bottom line, this avid, long time cross-stitcher recommends!

mine was missing the nut as well. |
    Verified Purchase

The hoop came in today with no nut as everyone else has stated theirs did too. I thought ordering an embroidery hoop would be a no fuss occurrence. no such luck. amazon refunded my money and i purchased a different hoop that hopefully will come with all of the pieces.

Works perfectly! Came with all of the pieces, worked really well. It took me a bit to figure out how to actually put the Aida paper on it but it was my first time doing it so its not hard to do. Exactly what I wanted, thank you :)

    what i needed |
    Verified Purchase

This is exactly what I was looking for! I'm a beginner, so I didn't want to buy anything expensive, so the price was perfect. I'm using this to practice my embroidery and such. So, I would recommend this to other beginners but probably not to the people wanting something that's high quality. However, my only downside: both hoops (I ordered two) were purple. I didn't even check the reviews out before purchasing them, or I would've mentioned to the seller that I wanted blue. Purple is OK, just blue would've been better. There is no mention of other colors on the item page. It might be a "bit" better to have, maybe, a list of colors? Either way, like another reviewer said, if you want to make sure that you do get the color pictured, emailing the seller might help! Overall, I loved the item!

    Affordable upgrade |
    Verified Purchase

I bought this hoop as an upgrade to the previous (cheap, wooden) hoop I was using. It seems much sturdier and the screw hardware is pretty decent quality - holds firm, metal doesn't bend. The inner hoop has a ridge on the bottom perimeter that helps you fit the outer hoop around without slipping too far down. I dinged 1-star because I still can't get the fabric quite as taut as I would like, but it does maintain decent tension. FYI, I received a yellow hoop.
