So Much Better Than Ice Cube Trays In The Freezer! |

We go through so much ice in my household and unfortunately don't have a refrigerator that makes it so I have to use good old-fashioned ice cube trays. As we all know, it takes hours for the water to freeze into cubes in an ice tray. This ice machine will start producing ice in around 10 minutes (on average). There are 3 sizes of "cubes" to choose from....small, medium and large. I have made all 3 sizes and I will say, there is not much of a difference in the size of the 3 but there is some. The ice also is not in the shape of a square cube like many, they are an oval shape with a hole in the center. The maker has a 3 prong plug so you need to make sure you have a 3 prong grounded outlet. You also need to make sure you have enough room on the counter or table around it for the fans to work properly. To make the ice, it's quite easy. Select the size you want, fill the water compartment to the max line or less, place your ice basket in and turn the machine on. The cycle runs to make 9 pieces of ice at a time. Once it's done, it falls off the prongs and gets pushed into the basket (you can see this in my video). Then the process starts all over again until the basket is full. There is an indicator light that turns on red when the basket is full. You can then empty into a plastic bag or whatever you wish to store it in for your freezer. You can also leave it in the machine and use the provided scoop to fill your glasses as needed. There is also a water low light that will illuminate once your water level gets too low and you need to add more. I had it filled just a little below the max line and got 4 full baskets before I refilled. The light wasn't on yet telling me but by looking, I could see it was getting low so I added more before I started the next batch. The manual is pretty decent but doesn't tell you it will take between 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get a full basket, which is what it takes for me. The ice machine should only be used indoors and never outside. There is a drain plug on the side of it to drain the water left in the reservoir if you are not going to be making any ice for a day or so, it's best to drain it and then add fresh water. The machine is quiet running so you barely even hear it on. Only time I heard it is when it was pushing the ice into the basket, otherwise the fan is quiet. The top has a see through area so you can see the progress of your ice being made without having to open the top. The machine will not automatically shut off though if you do open the lid so you can open it while it's running if need be. Overall, I am very happy with the machine. It makes ice much faster then traditional ice cube trays. You can make a bunch of ice ahead and store in plastic bags or containers if you want which works great for parties and get together's. At first I thought 2- 2 1/2 hours was a long time to get a full basket but after using it for the past week and seeing how much ice I have made and how easy and convenient it is, it's definitely worth it. I received this product at no cost in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation for a positive review was provided. All of my reviews are based 100% off of my experience with the product and I never guarantee a positive review.

Much nicer than other brands we've had |

Wonderful! It looks just like the Igloo we had, so I was surprised by how much better it works. Unlike other brands we've owned (Igloo and Della), the full bin censor works well. The ice has never overfilled the basket. It's quiet. No loud motor (like our Igloo). No annoying beeps (like the Della).

    My new best friend |

We've worked this little guy pretty good since he arrived, & he just goes to it. I have it on a table across the room from my desk, so I turn it on in the morning & let it rip. About every 10 minutes it drops cubes, every 2 to 3 drops I put the ice in a plastic baggie & into the freezer. PS - I use only filtered water in mine - for the machine's sake AND taste of the ice - hope that extends his life a long time

Fast ice in a very nice package. |

Form. Like other ice makers in this category, this machine requires a fair bit of counter space at about an 18" square footprint, with needed space to the left of the machine for the exhaust fan. We use this in a travel trailer, and the cabinet gets a bit crowded. The exhaust hasn't caused any problems heating up the trailer space. The stainless cabinet is attractive (even if it doesn't match the decor, lol), and the display is easy to see and understand. At around 25 lbs, it is heavy enough to stay put on the cabinet while traveling. The cord is long enough to give you options on where to plug it in. Fit. The lid feels more solid than on a previous unit we had, and the tray fits well. The cabinet is well-made. (Not a lot to comment on, here.) Function, This is my second ice machine. The other one, from a different maker, failed after a year. This one is fantastic. We had ice in mere minutes, and the tray was full in about an hour. The features on this are limited, but that's a good thing. The last one had a timer, settable start and stop times, an LCD display and a bunch of other unnecessary and, frankly, annoying crap on it. Beeped all the damn time. 2 AM seemed to be a favorite. This one just makes ice in, supposedly 3 different sizes. It has lights for "Low Water" and "Full of Ice", and for cube size. OK, "Tube" would be more appropriate than "cube", but you get the idea. In the matter of ice size, I really couldn't tell the difference between the settings. I guess it could matter if you had a small container to put it in, but we're using it for ice water in 30 oz tumblers, so... If you are planning to make this ice to bag up and store, this type of ice maker isn't what you want. The ice it makes is wet, and will form a solid chunk of ice if hard frozen. The cubes have a tendency to meld together on the machine if left unattended, but it breaks up easily put it in a glass. I am very satisfied with this purchase, and have already recommended it to a few people. I was not solicited to write this review (other than the usual Amazon reminder/request) ,and paid full Amazon price for the ice maker.

    Not the best |

The ice at this machine produces is very soft and wet. It's kept in a very wet environment and the ice melts away quickly.

    Good Value! |

Works great for the price! We use it regularly. It is a touch large for the counter but it works well.

A great addition to our kitchen |

Really impressed with this unit. It makes perfectly-sized cubes (actually 3 different sizes, but for us the "medium" is absolutely perfect) and works very well.

    Busted |

Had for a month and a half and it broke already. Making a horrible noises and the arm that pushes the ice down won't work anymore. We used it a lot though.
