    Durable, well made yarn |
    Verified Purchase

I always use Lily Sugar and Cream cotton yarn for making kitchen or bathroom towels/rugs, as it's very durable, absorbent, and can hold up to multiple washings with minimal pilling. It doesn't seem to shrink and that is a major plus as well. This bulk amount was a much better buy as making one dishcloth can use up one entire smaller ball, and I actually like my dishcloths to be larger than what one ball will make. This yarn is quite stiff and I also use it to make amigurimi (little dolls/stuffed animals), since it holds its shape well. In my opinion, this would NOT be a good yarn for scarves, sweaters, beanies, or things that you would prefer to be very soft. The yarn is extremely dense and this makes for great dishcloths, but terrible scarves. The only downside is that they do not make this yarn with organic cotton. As cotton is one of the crops that uses large amounts of pesticides, which has great environmental reprecussions, I would prefer to purchase organic cotton. Hopefully one day that will be an option.

Absolutely the Best Cotton Yarn |

I've used other brands of cotton yarn, but none are a match for Lily. Sturdy, smooth, minimal shrinkage. And the colors hold up well, too -- no fading or bleeding. It's rare to ever find a knot. Lily is my first choice for home decor projects.

    They're great! Can't recommend them enough! |

I can't remember how many of these large cones I've bought and will continue buying of this particular Potpourri and/or Ecru colors. I've made a few blankets and love the pattern of the Potpourri yarn which is very subtle and beautiful, and well ecru is ecru. It does make a wonderful baby's blanket because of the subtle blue, pink, and lavender specks that are subtly there; good for girl or boy. The first time I finished a project with it I was surprised at how soft it was and what a great drape it has. I love the 100% cotton especially for babies. You get a lot of great yarn for the price. I pick up another one anytime I'm down to one left; in other words never without. I have not found any major difference in the color dye lots and I have had to use various lots without being able to tell where one started and another one ended. I have nothing but good things to say about this yarn. Don't know if it matters, but I've only used the large cones vs the smaller skeins; couldn't tell you if there is a difference.

Sugar n Creme is my favorite cotton yarn. It is consistent and easy to work with. It makes excellent dishcloths, facecloths, and beach bags, among other things. I bought this cone to add a lacy border on an afghan. It looks great!

I use this yarn for some things I make in my botique business. It's a Great quality cotton yarn...I've run it through every test...and have used hundreds. I love to buy the cones as they are quite a money saver. I only wish I could find the cones in more colors! Great product, preshrunk, and rich colors that do not fade. I repeat...MORE COLORS ON THE CONES! Thank you for a superb product! Germaine

Good yarn, wrong color display |

Sugar'n Cream is excellent to work with if you like cotton yarn. However, I gave it 3 stars because the color shown on amazon is not the color of the yarn. Country Side is an ombre of green, purple, and grey (the grey actually looks a little pink). It's not bad yarn, just the color wasn't what I expected when I ordered. If you want blue, look for "Country Blue" Not Country Side. If you want to see the real color of this yarn search for - 02235 Country Side Ombre. It turned out ok for me since I ended up liking the yarn color, but I'm sure others won't appreciate the difference if they are expecting a light blue color.

I do not recommend it for crochet work. |

It is cotton, but the two strands makes it almost impossible to crochet without loosing one in the process of working with it. It may work for knitting, but I do not recommend it for crochet. That is, if you can stand the constant shedding of sharp little fibers that make your eyes, nose and skin itch. This is truly the worst yarn I have ever had the misfortune to use. It gets one star because there is no option for no stars.

The cone of yarn is just like the energizer bunny |

The cone of yarn is just like the energizer bunny... it just keeps going and going and going! This was my first Lily Sugar'n Cream Yarn. I started last year and my local yarn shop sells only high end yarn. It didn't fit into my budget right now so i tried this. Never thought of knitting dish or face cloths! But I googled it and a lovely southern lady had a vid about it. That's what everyone will be getting for christmas! my knitted clothes and a little soap or something. The yarn would make nice summer stuff too like a scarf or shrug. Not a soft yarn by any means but not scratchy either. I would use it for a scarf but only in a very loose knit... or maybe i'll just try one. It's not soft like Maxima for sure but I love natural fibers for knitting. This is fun! Wish I could find a cone of bright navy for Doctor Who related items. Hey Lilly! We need a tardis blue color! I was looking for an inexpensive Made in USA yarn. I found it so now I will make as many things out of this that I can! GO USA YARN! (To knit as wash cloths for fans of a UK series... oy vey!)

    Sturdy so Sturdy |

I have been using this white cotton yarn to knit hundreds of dish clothes that family and friends cannot get enough of. It keeps its shape, does not hold odors, and can be heavily bleached or cleaned in dishwasher without a problem. It is also much easier to use and is much more absorbent than acrylic or polyester dishcloths. Yarn is easy to work with and I use size 9 needles....perfect!
