I see why so many buyers on Amazon love this glue. It's super easy to work with, dries quickly, cures to a clear finish, and is easy to clean up excesses with water. A wonderful product.

I ordered the wrong glue, but, it does work well. |
    Verified Purchase

As someone who is new to online buying, I made a very simple mistake that did ruin my plans. I wanted to buy the dimensional magic glue, but in my concentration on getting Mod Podge specifically, I ordered this. Though I was bummed when I realized I bought the wrong thing (Glue Rings), I was playing with it on different crafts and it worked great. It will not go to waste, but, neither will the dimensional magic :)

This is a must have for crafters everywhere. I just did a big project with my last bottle and this was the best price for the size. They sell the 8 oz version at Joann Fabrics for abour $8, and I got this 16 oz version for less than that. Great deal!

    Did My Puzzle GREAT. |
    Plano, Texas United States

I used this MP (CS11302 Matte Finish) on two puzzles I was mounting and framing. I've used Masterpiece glue in the past but didn't want a gloss finish on these two puzzles. (One was a Seurat, the other a Van Gogh) I had read about brush strokes showing up in the work. I used a high quality Purdy 3" sash brush. I pour the MP into a disposable paint pan so the brush would fit. Brushed a good coat on like I was paint a piece of furniture and the brush strokes were almost invisible. Maybe if you were doing a high gloss/dark photo image puzzle they would be more noticeable. I only did one coat on top. Next day I could pick up a 4' x 3' 3000 piece puzzle. I didn't go flapping it like a flag, but held together more than enough to wood glue it to a piece of plywood. Great bang for the buck glue. If you want a nice gloss coat and money is no object, the Masterpiece glue give a beautiful GLOSS finish. With either one stretch some painters plastic on your table (tight with no creases) so puzzle doesn't stick to it.

    Great for crafting! |

I used this Mod Podge to seal and finish several canvases that were first collaged and then painted with acrylic. Using a cheap sponge brush to apply worked great, and my canvases have a quiet shine that simply screams class, class, CLASS.

My asthma/allergies just can't handle the smell of this stuff, even in a well-ventilated area. I'll keep using Aleene's Tacky Glue instead of this when I can, just because that smells so much less.

If You Craft, Try This! |
    Verified Purchase

It glues and covers your artwork. You can thin with water or leave it as is, the consistency of white glue. Great for collages too! One word of caution, do not use to protect your work if you create let's say a tray for drinks as it is not waterproof. If you use this and want to make it waterproof, simply coat with a clear coat of acrylic or varnish that can be tested first on a sample are you make. Spraying on would probably be best for work that will require several coats to protect.

Mod Podge is essential for crafting |

I have a 4 year old that loves to craft. She is obsessed with painting, drawing and such. This matte finish was great for putting finishes on painting on wood. I always like to put a coat on to protect from ware as we usually end playing with our crafts. If you use glitter like we do, the gloss finish mod podge is amazing! You can barely tell it's there!

    great! |
    Phoenix AZVerified Purchase

Just finished covering the first puzzle with it and am now going to unframe some puzzles and cover them also. This stuff is great!!! It goes on white, so it's easy to see exactly where it is needed, and dries to a beautiful clear matte finish that almost makes the puzzle look like a canvas painting. Much easier to use than other clear coatings I have used and the results are ten times better. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

Great to hold puzzles together |
    Los Angeles, CAVerified Purchase

Have used this to glue puzzles to hold them together for framing. Be aware that this version is matte - which means it will leave your puzzle with a matte coating vs. glossy. I made the mistake of doing one coating glossy (from another mod podge bottle) and then finished another coat with this one not realizing that the matte will cover the glossy coating and you will have some parts looking uneven so you have to do another coat. Also, be aware of the amount of glue you put on - especially on the back as if you put too much, it will seep through the cracks onto the other side. If so, make sure you smooth out those areas or else it will dry with a clump on the back.

    Great Finish! |
    Saratoga Springs, UT, USAVerified Purchase

I don't do very many arts & crafts projects, so I have never fully understood the hype behind this product. However, for Christmas, I wanted to make some of the popular image-transfers crafts and the project called for Mod Podge. After using it as a final coat on each of my wood blocks, they looked so cool! I loved the matte finish, making them look a little antiqued. I can see this 16-ounce container lasting for a while, since you only need to use a small amount to get a great finish. I can't wait to find more things to use this on!

    Verified Purchase

I get so excited about using Mod Podge that I have to remind myself that if I'm just needing glue, I should be using a cheap PVA. Mod Podge is brilliant for covering all my woodcraft projects, and doesn't smear patterned paper, printer ink or calligraphy ink.

    Fantastic! |
    Menlo Park, CAVerified Purchase

Great results with this Mod Podge glue (even though it arrived leaking and the seal was broken under the cap), I was able to salvage enough glue for 2 layers (allowing the first layer to dry overnight before applying the second layer). The finish was clear, matte, and held the entire 1,000 piece puzzle together like a cardboard poster. I used a small paint brush to paint on the glue -- ensuring that the entire puzzle (especially the seams) were covered completely in a white layer of glue (which later finished dry and see-through).

Who Knew It Leeches To Toner?? |
    Chicago, IL

While I'm not a big crafting person I do make a lot of artwork in Photoshop and I'm always looking for a cool way to display it. It turns out that Mod Podge will adhere to laser printer toner so I'm able to transfer my images and artwork onto things like marble tiles, wood and even canvas! All you have to do is inverse the image in Photoshop and print it on plain paper. Once the Mod Podge is dry you can wet the paper and remove it and leave the toner behind! Genius! A quick Google search should help you find these types of DIY projects if you're interested. For this use alone I'm a big fan!

Around for ages, for a reason... |
    Verified Purchase

I spent over 70 hours working on an acrylic on raw canvas (not treated canvas) painting. I was nervous to apply any finish over my hard work - a carefully done children's painting that will become a family heirloom. I have used acrylic spray in the past, alone, but in the long run was unhappy with the outcome. I've used MOD PODGE on other crafts, but not paintings. I tested a corner, and within seconds it looked great. I nervously painted the first coat over the entire 28x36 colorful painting. 15 minutes later, the matte finish was set in, and I proceeded with the second coat. After completely drying, I LOVED the outcome! It's truly a matte finish, and is a great protector from the elements. The bottle recommends applying an acrylic coat on top of the finish to avoid tackiness, but I avoided this step as I didn't find that the finish was tacky - instead it set in perfectly and actually enhanced the colors quite a bit. I will try to post a pic of my finished project?HIghly recommend and will use always. This stuff's been around since peace times - for a reason.

    Very cool stuff! |
    St. Louis, MO USAVerified Purchase

This was my first crafting experience with mod podge and it was just what I needed! I used it to adhere a print to a painted canvas, let it dry, then painted the entire thing with another coat. It dried perfectly clear and is very solid. Just beware, I did mess up one print because it wasn't covering the green color in my print. Very strange! So I kept brushing it over and over and over and then I got the print too wet and it tore through. So luckily I had extra so I peeled it off and started over. So a quick even coat is all you need. At least let it dry before trying to brush more on. It was very strange how the mod podge wouldn't cover the green areas on my print, it just kept separating over the green. But it ended up looking textured when it dried so it looked like I did it on purpose. All in all this stuff is great!

    Super Convenient |
    Verified Purchase

I used Mod Podge to seal up some collages that created for my art class and it actually increased my grade quite a bit. My piece looked cleaner than it had without the Mod Podge, and kept any stray papers from falling off or getting water damage. When you paint it on it looks kind of cloudy, but when it dries it is completely clear. It gives the paper a nice finish to it, making it look much more neat and organized. I did, however, use it on an image that was printed from a standard home printer and it smudged the ink and made it change color. The quality of the paper could have been a factor, but I would look out for that just in case. Overall, it is a fantastic product that is definitely a life saver.

    Great for puzzles! |
    Kailua, HI, USA

This stuff is awesome for gluing puzzles to display or hang on your wall later. Just pour some mog podge on top of the completed puzzle, and using a brush or a small piece of card stock (I used an old credit card), gently spread it over the entire puzzle making sure to fill in all the cracks. Remove any excess glue and let it dry completely(2-3 hours is best) before doing a second coat or flipping it over to do the back. ***Becareful when flipping the puzzle over to do the back. I recommend letting the puzzle dry completely or over night before you flip it over to do the back, just in case. If the puzzle is not fully dried it could stick to your work surface and tear off the puzzle when you try to flip it back over.*** I also highly recommend doing two coats on the top to ensure you get everything covered. The glue goes on white but dries to a clear matte finish. Great stuff!

I used this product to glue a jigsaw puzzle to a cardboard backing. It couldn't have been easier. I placed the puzzle face-up on the cardboard, applied the glue, and somehow it seeped right through the cracks and is fastened tightly to the cardboard. Thing is, I saw the exact same thing at Michael's more than $2 cheaper, so shop around, but definitely use this product.

I had never used Mod Podge before, but had heard so many others talk about it. I wanted to collage a frame (decoupage), but didn't want a really shiny surface, so I bought this one (the matte version). It worked out amazingly well. It goes on white, which of course made me nervous. But it dried into a clear hard coating within a matter of minutes. I'm delighted with the results and look forward to finding another use for it. Lots of fun!

I used this to apply glitter to some flats and from this experience, all I can say is to not layer the mod podge on too thick or it will leave a white spot and take much longer to dry. I suggest whatever you're doing, layer it on thinly and add more layers after the previous one dries. Other than that it worked beautifully.

I used this Mod Podge to make a custom iPhone case for my boyfriend, using a combination of paint and paper. This is a great sealant/glue/magical product. I had heard only good things about it, so I decided to try it myself, and I'm very happy with it! You can first use it as a glue, by putting it under and on top of whatever you want to affix. Don't get scared when it looks like glue -- it goes on white, but dries absolutely clear. It's a great sealant as well, and isn't sticky at all once it dries. I was worried about this at first, since I was using it on something that was going to be handled, but so far so good! No sticky residue or finger prints or anything. I will definitely continue using this product! I can't wait to try more crafts with it!

I love the Matte Finish Mod Podge and use it for paper arts, mixed media journals, and photographs. It is an excellent adhesive and works well to cover the surface of something as well. Not sticky when dry. I have even used this to cover a pair of old high heels with fabric for a new look (kind of a lot of work, but so cute when done) and Mod Podge was the perfect thing to use!

How to use the matte finish |
    0

I am a paper crafter (not scrapbooker) who uses Mod Podge by the gallon. This stuff can be used for adhesion, sealing, decoupage, and applying dimensional textures to a certain extent. After using Mod Podge for many years, the matte finish in the yellow bottle has become my favorite, although all Mod Podge products are great and come recommended by me. The trick is to know which finish of Mod Podge to use for your needs. As a paper crafter, I prefer the matte finish because it has the most durable and well textured finish for decoupage and sealing my paper projects. I prefer to use a sponge brush to apply this to my crafts. The glossy and satin formulas can leave sealed projects just ever so slightly tacky to the touch once completely dry. If I use the glossy or satin finish to coat, say, a decoupaged notebook - after letting the finish dry completely I could still stack finished notebooks to store them and they might stick together. So I wouldn't use those formulas for projects that need more durability and protection. (For another example, I'll chose matte when I decoupage a surface of furniture, as it might get a lot of wear and items set upon it each day. But for an art project that will merely hang on the wall I'm more likely to chose the glossy or satin.) The matte finish has preformed the best for my decoupage projects. That said, you can always use a clear acrylic spray finish on top of your mod podge to get rid of any remaining "tackiness" no matter which formula you might use. The matte finish, obviously, has a dull non-shiny appearance once dry. If you would like a shiny finish, choose the gloss Mod Podge finish in the classic red bottle. Then there is the satin finish in the orange (or purple for hard coat) bottle, which has a slight haze in it's finish and will thus show brush strokes and scratches less often than matte & gloss. Of course there are also several other Mod Podge products now on the market, as the crafting industry is booming these days and they are broadening their spectrum of products, which is wonderful for us crafters! I recommend any of their formulas, honestly, just research which one best suits your project before purchasing.

I love Mod Podge and matte is an elegant finish |

I grew up in a very crafty household, and my mother used Mod Podge on a lot of her projects. The classic method for decoupage is to cut out pictures, apply them with glue, then shellac over them carefully building up layers of shellac until the item is smooth to the touch. Mod Podge revolutionized decoupage by making it a lot easier without having to use shellac or thinners to clean your brush. You use it as the glue, sealer and finishing product, allowing it to dry 20 minutes between layers. It dries water resistant, in fact, some people tint Mod Podge with a bit of acrylic paint or ink, then paint designs on screens in embroidery hoops for screen printing. The Mod Podge acts as a block that is not soluble in the ink. I like the Matte for a lot of projects. The glossy can be too shiny for a lot of effects, the matte is classy and attractive. Use a foam brush to apply it. I don't work directly out of the jar just in case the item I'm sealing isn't colorfast. That way my jar doesn't get contaminated with color. Instead I pour a little on a scrap piece of paper and work off of that, pouring a bit more as I need it. Using that method, you can use wide foam brushes. I love Mod Podge!

I just recently learned about Mod Podge and I love it! I was tasked with trying to come up with a cute idea for my daughters gymnastics team. They got new warm-ups and red glitter back packs this year and we wanted some cute matching shoes. We originally thought about bows, but after watching a few videos and searching the web I decided to try to add glitter to some slide ins. Well I must say they came out great!! The shoes were on clearance for $3, I bought some Mod Podge, red glitter and presto - I'm the new Mom hero! Everyone loves them and just in time for our meet on Saturday!! How I did it: Used sandpaper to lightly sand the area of the shoe that I planned to glitter Placed the shoe on news paper Used a brush to put on a thick layer of Mod Podge Sprinkle the glitter onto the shoe and the Mod Podge Let sit for 5 minutes Tap the excess glitter off of the shoe Add another layer of Mod Podge to seal and keep the glitter in place Let the shoe dry over night

We had 3 puzzles to glue and seal. As we were the first timers with the puzzles, we had no idea what to use. Then, we took the advice from here and this Matt finish Mod Pudge was the winner. Wow, unless you get really lazy, like I did, pouring the glue, directly onto the puzzle and spread it, it will take about 10 min. or less to cover 500-1000 piece puzzles, then, without waiting further, I applied again another coat. And, I remembered to lift the puzzle to see any glue smeared unto the poster board. It did here and there and I gently roll down the board off the puzzle edges. That helped to separate the hardening puzzles from get stuck to the board. within 20-30min. I could even lift 500 piece puzzle(18x24in) After only 2-3 hours in the room temperature, it sets beautifully. And, I turned them over and gave a thin coat onto the back. The backside is often uncoated brown paper material, and they dried even faster. We still have 1/4 out of 16fl oz bottle, using 3 coats each(1 @ 20x27, 2 @ 18x24) The matt finish really gives it a more of a collection quality look than the glossy would. (getting the right size brush)__________________ The only thing I would suggest, is the sponge brush size, I bought two brushes of a differnt width. One is too big for the bottle opening. I would suggest getting a brush, smaller than 1.75inch(45mm) or you will have some mess around the bottle while working with it. They are only 30-65 cents. And, I was stingy enough(no, environmentally conscious)to wash it later to save it. And, the glues washes off really nice, leaving no residue. My verdict is, I am glad to find some quality product, that is very versatile and easy to work with. I will become a new fan of Mod Pudge- except that I am not keen on just an ugly cheap label design from early 70s. The local store priced it at $8.99 plus tax.

I use Mod Podge on everything! I've been a crafty gal since I was little, and when I discovered Mod Podge it was all over. With every possible finish, the options are endless. I use the Matte finish when I'm doing collages on canvas. It doesn't stand out as much against the paint that way. If I want a finished effect, I'd use the glossy.

What can I say? Mod Podge is the classic crafting glue, and it's easy to see why. It spreads evenly, dries quickly, and has great sticking power. This is very handy stuff to have around, and works for a wide variety of craft projects. It dries clear, so can be used as a sealant as well as glue.

I will try to post a pic of my finished project…HIghly recommend and will use always. This stuff's been around since peace times - for a reason.

I get so excited about using Mod Podge that I have to remind myself that if I'm just needing glue, I should be using a cheap PVA. Mod Podge is brilliant for covering all my woodcraft projects, and doesn't smear patterned paper, printer ink or calligraphy ink.

    Did My Puzzle GREAT. |
    0

UPDATE - I have used this product numerous times now, works great, but I have an update on application. Instead of a brush get yourself a rubber squeeze like you would use on windows. They come as small as 6 inch and as large as 18 inch. For a smaller puzzle use a small one, when I did my 9,000 piece 5' x 6' puzzle I used a 18" one. Once again stretch plastic (or wax paper) on the surface you're going to glue on. Make it bigger than the puzzle by a good chunk. Pour a good amount on the surface of the puzzle and used to squeeze to spread around filling all the space between the pieces. Will show up nicely since it's white until dry. I just squeeze it in and let the excess puddle off the side. Once puzzle is coated I squeeze around the puzzle to drag the excess away. I cover the excess with old newspaper to keep it from running back to the puzzle and containing the mess. But the squeeze works a lot better than a brush and easier to clean.
