... gorgeous and soft and lovely - this is the best yarn I've worked with (beginner looming) |

I've ordered several of these colors and they are all gorgeous and soft and lovely - this is the best yarn I've worked with (beginner looming). HOWEVER, please be advised that these are not "color-fast" - there's a tremendous amount of color bleeding that happens when this yarn gets wet - just a heads up if you give someone a scarf and they happen to have a white coat - they will hate you forever. I spilled a pitcher of water on the blue/green "mosaic" and it looked like someone murdered a smurf in my living room.

Love / Hate this yarn. Warning: the color is mostly gray tones. |

I have a love /hate relationship with this yarn! I bought 11 skeins (all the same lot number) to crochet a Red Heart sweater pattern made specifically with this particular color because I fell in love with the aquas and greens. Folks - it is mostly gray with some blue-gray and green-gray tones. It does not work up like the colors of the skein photo or the sweater pattern in their website. I decided to make shawls with it instead. My photo shows the amount of green and aqua in one skein and all the grays. They have all worked up this way. Bummer. Love: It is the softest, most beautiful (although Mosaic is actual very drab) roving colorwork yarn I've seen in awhile. I just want to wrap myself up in it and snooze. For the most part it is easy to work with. Very easy on the hands. Hate: It is the most frustrating yarn to work with. The quality is inconsistent and it is beyond delicate. It is roving with no individual ply strands, just one varying thin to average thickness strand that is very inconsistent within each skein. There have been several occurrances in each skein where the strand turns into a fluffy white or colored ball of cotton that cannot the tamed or twisted down to match the rest. There are a few knots in some of the skeins. You must have a gentle hand or it will fuzz up on you. If you must tear it down, you need tons of patience and must go lightly and slow or you will rip it or fuzz it. I am afraid to even hand wash them when I'm through and am afraid to block it. I've worked with all kinds of fibers and combinations in the 50 years I've both crocheted and knitted, and I find this the most frustrating. I am both drawn to it and repulsed by it at the same time. Previously that honor belonged to Lionbrand Da Vinci yarn but no more. Boutique Treasures wins hands down. I was considering trying a different color of Boutique Treasures for the sweater, but I don't know if it will be worth it. I'll probably it try anyway.

A big, fuzzy ball of pain |

I am experienced knitter (over 50 years) and I fell in love with this yarn at first sight. After reading the other reviews I bought some and started knitting. Immediate frustration. This yarn is nearly roving, which means it has no twist and wants to turn into fuzz at every opportunity. My needle kept splitting it so I changed needles three times, hoping a different needle tip would be the answer. No dice. Correcting a stitch by dropping it and picking it up is out of the question, because all the tiny threads meld together and prevent this, as well as making unravelling test swatches impossible. I ran into several tiny embedded pieces of vegetation (no doubt from the wool content) which were impossible to remove from the yarn withiut causing a giant fuzzy mess. I have no explanation for the excellent reviews this stuff is getting. I've used all kinds of yarn, from handspun on up, and this one is simply unworkable. This is a huge lesson in frustration.

Amazing colors, and easy on the hands. |

I've started working on a granny scarf with this yarn and so far, this is the softest and most colorful scarf I've ever made. The softness of the yarn makes it easy to work with for long periods of time and the colorwork is bold and subtle enough that it should be allowed to speak for itself, especially in simple patterns. I hope it becomes available again soon!

    Beautiful color, inconsistent thickness |

The colors of the Mosaic colorway are really beautiful, although there was a lot more gray in the yarn than what is pictured. Ordered several skeins at once, but got yarn from a couple different dye lots… I was worried about this, but with so much variegation the different dye lots weren't noticeable in the finished sweater. Yarn thickness was very inconsistent, this is marked as a 4 but actually ranges from what I'd consider 3 - 5 even within a single skein.

    Soft and Lovely! |

I love this yarn! It feels so soft and the Mosaic color works up beautifully. It's hard to describe the effect - it basically stripes but, The subtle color changes throughout do tend to give it a bit of a watercolor look to it. I can't wait to try other colors. I'm still a bit of a beginner but, this yarn really inspires me. I will be sure to hand wash it before using my scarf though, especially since there was a comment about colorfastness being a concern. I really am surprised that an experienced knitter would have any problems. When I was balling the yarn, there were a few fuzzy spots where I easily just pulled of that little bit of fuzz. It was certainly nothing troublesome to me.

    Breathtakingly gorgeous! |

One of the most beautiful variegated yarns I've ever used! I does take some getting used to because it likes to snag on itself so it makes it difficult to undo stitches on your crochet or knit projects, but the end result of the blues and greens flowing gently in and out of each other and the amazing soft fluffy texture are well worth the extra work.

Great for Crochet but Shreds If You Sew |

Last year I purchased some of this yarn from another retailer in the color "Abstract ". The colors were beautiful pastels with a few rich shades. The boutique treasure line are self-striping yarns. They create a beautiful project and they are easy to crochet with. I made a poncho using motifs and I noticed the yarn shredded when I attempted to sew the pieces using a tapestry needle. I had to crochet the pieces together. I would not recommend it for fringe either. The other issue is that although they have kept the name "Abstract ", the colors are now warmer and richer. This is true of skeins I purchased thru Amazon and at craft stores. I do highly recommend this line of yarn. The other colors are beautiful. I urge you to look at the different shades, as I'm sure you'll find one you like for your next project.

    Nice |

Nice to knit with. Knitting mittens on 3 needles and not having any problem with it splitting. The color Horizon I ordered is much darker and drabber than pictured. so beware if you are ordering this color, otherwise I would give it a 5 star.
