The Most Clever Adapter Yet |

I've got close to a dozen different types of foreign power adapters, and I have to say that this is the most innovative, clever design I've seen yet. It packs a whole lot of functionality into a not-too-big package. It's one of those things that makes you wonder why no one else has ever done this before. First of all: two outlets instead of just one. Duh. So obvious, but brilliant. Throw in two USB ports, plus another built-in-micro USB charging cable, and you can have 5 devices plugged in to a single outlet, without needing any extra equipment or adapters. Second: unlike so many others, this adapter actually supports grounded devices & outlets. If you've ever tried to find an adapter that will accept a 3-prong laptop charger plug, you know they can be hard to come by, and they never actually ground the device - they just fit the plug. This one actually does provide a ground, protecting your electronics like they would be in the US. Third: The plug adapters are properly shaped to fit even recessed plugs. My first trip overseas almost ended in disaster: the adapter kit that I took with me was made for outlets that were flush with the wall, but the outlets in my room were all recessed. There was no way to get my plug to reach the outlet. I had to rig a very insecure (and very unsafe) adapter using some extra pieces in the kit. That's not a problem you'll run into with this one. The people who designed this one have obviously actually been overseas before, and know that not every plug is the same. The right plugs are recessed correctly for the right countries where you might encounter them. Fourth: The size and design are great. It's really compact (much moreso than I was expecting for what it has built in). It's also designed so that you can rest your phone/USB battery/whatever on top of it while it's charging, so it's not sitting on the floor. It even works if you had to plug the adapter in upside down. They've really fit as much as possible into the allotted space. There are two things I would probably change. Since this has multiple adapters (for various countries), you obviously have to keep up with them. A bag or case of some kind would be extremely helpful. It seems to be the only thing they haven't thought of. Also, the box says that USB port A is for Apple products, and port B is for all other products. For the life of me, I can't figure out why that is. They both provide 5V and 1.6A. I'd really like to know their reasoning here. Needless to say, I'm very impressed with this item. It gets 5 stars, and will get my full endorsement to any family or friends who need an adapter like this.

Great product - read if traveling to Italy |

Product works great and comes exactly as expected. Easy to use. I used it for a week in Italy (you only need to bring the EU adapter shown in the product pictures if traveling there) and was able to charge five items - iPhones, blackberry, Bose headphones, etc - simultaneously. I read in another comment that the two regular plugs are too close together, but I was able to fit everything just fine. It's also lightweight for travel, particularly if you're only bringing one of the attachments with you. Travelers to Italy: Note that there are two types of wall sockets found in Italy - a traditional three prong version and a hybrid-looking one that also accepts two prongs, eg is universal EU outlet friendly (picture attached - hybrid socket on the right). I only traveled to Sorrento + Positano, and found that all of the hotel rooms I stayed at had at least a few of the EU outlet friendly sockets. Note that this product doesn't work with the traditional Italian three prong wall socket.

    A Travelers Companion |

Hi, This is my review for the product listed on Amazon as: [UL Listed] Poweradd 2-Outlet International Travel Charger with Dual USB Ports, Micro USB Connector, US EU AU UK Plugs, Charging Stand – White I received this product last week and had time over the past couple of days to evaluate it for review. This comes in a big box because all of the plugs sand the charger itself are separated and held down by the cardboard cutout. I would’ve liked for PowerAdd to provide a travel pouch with this product package to carry the charger and wall plugs around. Otherwise, how do you store them away with you on your trip? It would be more user friendly with a pouch that has a rope loop to handle it or connect it to some part of your travel baggage. I consider that as a suggestion to improve this product packaging. What’s nice about this set is that it contains a wall plug for every major region that uses input voltage between 100V to 240V, which covers nearly everywhere in the world. The plugs show that this can be used in North America, Europe, Asia, and even Australia. So no more travel adapter to purchase per continental land that you visit. This set has you covered. There’s 2 sockets above 2 USB ports. The USB ports provide a total current of 2.4A. Unfortunately, I contacted PowerAdd and each port splits to charging just 1.2A. So this is useful for charging two smartphones, but not charging a tablet like an iPad. The other issue with this setup that some users may come across is that if they use a high power plug that’s used for certain office products like lamps and printers, then the size of the plug may cover or get in the way of being able to use the USB port below it, which can be a problem. I think because this charger is small in size, this is the issue that can happen with different sized elongated plugs. So that’s something to be kept in mind. Also, the sockets are packed close to each other, so small plugs won’t have an issue, but two large plugs may not fit or may be too skin tight to where it will be difficult to pull one plug out with no fit on one side to grip on the sides to pull out. I think the Micro USB cable that’s built into the charger is a nice feature. It would be nice if the top side had the micro USB cable wrapped and built in while the bottom side had the lightning cable wrapped and built in to support no only Android, but Apple device as well. The cable wraps and is securely snug into some pocket that actually makes groove markers on the connector handle in order to keep it snug fit and not loose dangling around. The product comes with the USA wall plug preinstalled. It took a while for me to figure out how to release the wall plug and pulling it away because the User Manual didn’t specify any of that. But I eventually found out how by pushing the slider on top and then using a lot of force to pull up the wall plug. It can be pretty tough and a lot of effort required to pull the wall plug out of the charger socket without flinging your arm up. I suggest that they make the connector easier to pull out. The current design of this makes it inure prone to your fingertips. As a test, I plugged the charger to a wall outlet near my desk and for two days, I left my lamp and laptop charging through the two available sockets on the charger. I also plugged my lightning cable to the USB port and charged my iPhone at the same time. After 2 days of testing, I did not find anything unusual or faulty with the design of this charger. It worked fine. Charging to the devices was at normal expected speeds as compared to a straight wall outlet connection. Overall, I find this product very useful for travelers who may not know completely where they’re going or headed and want a cost effective product that is an All-In-One set rather than individual wall adapter products. But the compact size will be a challenge to allow more coverage and combination of plugging in different sized plugs. I received a sample of this product from the manufacturer to give a detailed review of the user experience. I am also providing this review to help prospective buyers make smart informed decisions. I hope you like my photos. Thanks for reading my review.

so it was pretty much useless there |

A bit bulky, but helpful for travel to have both plugs as well as USB ports, the latter of which came in very handy as I had some devices with me that required USB.
